NYX Round Lipstick in Power Review

Today I will be doing a review on NYX Round Lipstick in Power. I have owned this lipstick for over a month now and have grew to love this shade.

What NYX says; "NYX Round Lipstick is our classic lipstick for all-year round. The mineral-based emollient formula offers a beautiful velvet texture, saturated colour and it resists wear and smudging. It?s your go-to lipstick. From Pure Nude to Pink Lyric to Chic Red, Round Lipstick is available in a jaw-dropping 144 shades."

The colour looks very pink here, but it isn't that colour at all :S

The colour of Power is really interesting as I don't think I've ever seen a colour like it before. Its a cross between a grey-lavender and a bubblegum pink, and on my lips looks a lavender nude. So this is a very different lipstick for me as I've said this before and I will say it again, I am not a nude lipstick fan, I love brights! I mean some people would never consider it a 'true nude' but for me I it is.


I think this lipstick would look best on a cool skin as I think it may make people with a warm skin tone look like a corpse or a victim of hypothermia, not a good look unless its for Halloween!

Now the formulation of these lipsticks is the thing I don't like. I know people rave at how creamy these lipsticks are, but for me they are too creamy. This makes them easily slip off your lips and makes the lasting time really poor. Power lasts about 1 hour before I have to reapply, and that's without eating or drinking.

NYX Round Lipstick Haul & Swatches

Hey girls :)

Since getting my other NYX Round Lipstick and really liking them I decided to buy some more! I ordered on eBay and got 3 plus the free one the Lady forgot to include in my other order.

The texture off all the lipsticks are smooth and glides on the lips very easily, the finish is between matte and glossy. It depends on the shade you get. I love the pigmentation of these because only one swipe can give the right colour, the lasting power however is somewhat poor, only lasting around 3 hours so a reapply is a must! 

(L-R) I got the shades; Spell Bound, Gardenia, Femme and Paris

Spell Bound is is a dark but bright pink colour, somewhat like a mauve strawberry. It is a creamy lipstick; not glossy nor matte. 

Gardenia is a darker hot pink that's shimmery, but looks browny on me. I'm not a fan of this colour at all, and I regret buying it. 

Femme on the other hand is a beautiful colour, its a bright orange-coral with a satin finish. Its a very opaque colour that for me is very wearable. If you are a shy person with lipstick colours stay well away from this.

Paris is a blue-toned and almost a purple-ish pink, compared to powder is it more pink and is a little darker. I would still say it is a lavender lipstick though. 

Spell Bound, Gardenia, Femme and Paris

Over all I really love the colours I got, except Gardenia. They did melt a little in the post, so when I twist the lipstick up a small piece catches on the tube. This doesn't really bother me buts its worth mentioning it, as if you decided to buy some online the chances are it might happen.

Birthday Haul; Lipsticks - MAC, NYX & BARRY M

Hello everyone : )

Since it was my birthday on Monday, I am going to do a few birthday hauls because if I included everything I want to show you in one post, it would be MASSIVE!

Today’s post is on lipsticks.  

Normally I really dislike lipstick but for the past few weeks I've been obsessed with them. For my birthday I got some money so I decided to get 3 MAC lipsticks and 1 Barry M lipstick, plus as mentioned in a earlier post, I was getting 6 NYX round lipsticks from my boyfriend so I will show you them too.

The 3 MAC lipsticks I bought were Saint Germain, Pink Nouveau and Viva Glam Nicki.

Saint Germain is amazing! I am fair-skinned (NC15 most of the time being too dark!) so this really does stand out on my lips. The shade is just gorgeous, a pastel pink colour with a hint of lilac, bright yet light and a cute colour that I imagine will suit a lot of people!  The Amplified Creme formula is super pigmented, extremely creamy and smooth, however it is not the most moisturizing I have ever come across. The texture is beautiful; it glides on lips so easily!

Pink Nouveau is a medium blue toned pink which is super flattering for any skin colour, warm or cool toned and I would even say any hair colour! The Satin finish is a very smooth and creamy texture and this one is especially lovely! The pigmentation is amazing and I would say this lipstick lasting time is around 5 hours depending on what you eat or drink.

Viva Glam Nicki is such a stunning bright pink shade and I am very happy that I bought it, even though I don’t like Nicki herself :P It’s described as a yellow based pink which makes it appear slightly more coral on my skin tone, but still making it a perfect Barbie pink shade. This lipstick is also a satin finish so is of a smooth and creamy texture.

All these lipsticks have that lovely vanilla smell, as all MAC lipsticks do. Over all I think Mac prices aren't as bad as people make out, they actually are cheaper than any other high end make up line and they are definitely worth the money!

The next lipstick I got was Barry M’s Palest Lavender, shade 129. It has a creamy texture, which goes on smooth, but is not very pigmented; I need a good 3 coats to get a colour on my lips! It’s a light lavender colour which is very cool toned, so I think it would look strange with warm toned skin. The texture is similar to the formula of MAC Lustres, and I don't find this particular lipstick drying or chalky in the least. However, I have worn this lipstick once, swatched it twice and it already broke and looks a mess. I was like wtf o.O So just a warning to be very, VERY careful with this!

The next 6 are all NYX, and they all have really surprised and impressed me! If you didn’t know, us British folk can’t get NYX in “drug stores” So I had to order online, from eBay. After some serious googling I decided on getting the colours Power, Strawberry Milk, Fig, Lousiana, Narcissus and Spell Bound. However there was a mix up and I ended up with two Fig lipsticks, I wasn’t best pleased at the beginning but now I really like Fig!

Power is a gorgeous, cool-toned pinky lilac, but has some sort of beige greyish undertones that can make you look like a corpse or a victim of hypothermia! It is much lighter than in the swatch!

Strawberry Milk is a pigmented lilac toned bubblegum pink; it is not a natural shade of “lip” at all! It is a mix of a cream/satin finish and is very moisturizing

Fig is a warm-toned medium pink rose colour. It has no shimmer or frost to it, and reminds me of a more ‘grown up’ colour compared to the other in my collection.

Louisiana is a purple based bright medium pink which almost has a hint of coral to it. The colour is matte, but has a glossy/satiny finish. It is darker and has more warm tones than Narcissus, but less brown/orange than Fig.

Narcissus is a great bubblegum pink! It has no lilac or blue tones, and it doesn't have any orange or yellow shine to it either. It is bright and perfect pink at the same time. It is NOT too light so it won't come off chalky or white or pastel like Strawberry Milk or Power. It is my favourite of the NYX lipsticks.

The overall appearance of the lipstick is nice, it has a shiny black tube with the shade name and number written on the top, the colour of the lipstick can be seen through the transparent bottom.
