Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 663 Va Va Violet Review

Hey guys,

I'd been eyeing up Revlon's Va Va Violet for awhile before I bought it, and decided to get it after AlisonLovesJB on YouTube showed it colour in her 'Favorite Fall Lipstick' video. I loved it as its such a dark and bold colour!

However it turns out it's quite sheer and doesn't look intense as what's in the tube, which I'm very disappointed at. The colour itself is a deep eggplant purple, which is very pretty, however the pay off is very odd, it is very sheer and quite glossy so it goes on really uneven. The only way to get around this, is to apply 3 layers and blot between each one, but even then it doesn't stay on very long maybe an hour at the most. For me this is just a impractical lipstick, one that looks better in photos than in real life.

If you have any deep purple lipsticks you love, tell me! I'm desperate to find a long lasting, preferably matt deep purple lipstick.

Top 5 Things For Under £10

Hey ladies,

Today I will be showing you my "Top 5 Things For Under £10"

I wont ramble on as the title explains it all, so lets just get started :D

Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation - £9.99
(I don't have this in my collection atm, as I haven't repurchased it yet, so that's why it isn't photographed!)

I love this foundation as it was my first one and it saved me from the dreaded teenage tango, orange face syndrome - which I am extemly grateful for! I'm as pale as they come and I had been searching every where for a foundation that was light enough. Really to the point that I didn't care how much it cost as long as it matched my skin, so when I found this it was pretty much a small miracle!

This foundation is really creamy and doesn't have pink or yellow under tones, making it a really neutral colour. Which is perfect as sometimes I find pink ones leave me looking red and flushed, while yellow ones make me look like I have jaundice. The foundation is lovely to blend, very smooth and creamy without been too sticky or watery. I would say this foundation is verging on the full coverage. You can read my foundations comparison here.

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Mascara - £7.99

This is fastly become one of my favouite mascaras ever! It makes my lashes look definitely fuller and longer, as well as defining each lash. I have wrote a review on this mascara here!

Revlon Matte Lipstick in 002 Pink Pout - £7.49

Im pretty sure by now most people know that Revlon lipsticks are amazing for the cost, but Pink Pout is beyond that! Pink Pout is a pale light pink with mauve undertones. Its a matte lipstick which I love as I'm not too crazy over glossy lipsticks and is a dupe for MAC's Snob lipstick. You can see an comparison here.

Barbara Daly Tweezers - £6

I've got a post raving about these so I wont repeat myself but wow! These are so good! You get 3 pairs of tweezers in the set all ranging in shape, perfect for different areas. The tweezers are all really sharp and precise, and for £6 you really cant go wrong! You can read my post here.

Sleek Blush by 3 - £10

I don't technically own the 3 blush pallet but own the single ones, but I couldn't not put this on my list. Sleek makes amazing quality products, the pigmentation is wonderful and the texture is lovely, soft and easy to blend. I really suggest you check these out, because I know these are on my to buy list! I have a review of one of the Sleek blush here.

Do you like my picks? What would you choose?

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Lilac Pastelle Review!

Hey guys

Since getting into lipsticks I thought it would be time to expand my limited lip gloss collection! First, I have to mention that I'm not the biggest fan of lip glosses, they are just something I was not really interested in.

So I did a bit of research (consisting of me covering my hand in lip gloss swatches in Boots and reading reviews!) and decided to try the Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss since I loved their lipsticks so much. I've never tried any Revlon's lip gloss formulas, well maybe when I was really young, but I went in with an open mind since I've had my share of both pleasant and unpleasant experiences with lip gloss! I chose the colour Lilac Pastelle as I was looking for a gloss for MAC's Saint Germain and thought it would go nicely.

Lilac Pastelle is a pale, milky lilac colour which has a glossy cream finish and a teeny hint of shimmer. It goes on evenly and smoothly, plus for a purple it is extremely wearable as it is sheer, but buildable. The texture is nice and isn't very sticky, however this gloss' lasting power is excellent! It lasts a really long time by itself and over a lipstick, around 1 hour which I think is pretty good! The only downside of this gloss is that it settles into the fine lines in your lips and leaves what looks like purple vains on the skin of your lips, this is easily sorted however by rubbing your lips together.

The gloss has a normal doe foot applicator which doesn't bother me but I know some people prefer brushes. The applicator allows a smooth streak of colour all over the lips as well as dabbing it on too. The part of the packing where the lip gloss is held is very tight meaning no excess gloss is left on the applicator, also no lip gloss flows out of the top when the applicator is removed.

The top swatch is one swipe of colour,
the bottom is two layers of the gloss dapped on.

The only negative aspect of this gloss is the smell, it smells like plastic or something on the lines of that, luckily this doesn't affect the taste at all. I wish these gloss' had a smell or taste, something fruity or vanilla-ish like MAC.

The awkward lip swatches!

Sorry it's a bit blurry,
I can't take pictures up close of my lips properly,
so I have to zoom in!

Overall, I really love this lipgloss and I think I might be checking some more out!

Have you tried this collection? Or have a lip gloss you think I should try?

Review; Revlon Matte Lipstick in Stormy Pink

Hey girls,

Im here with another lipstick review today, it is another Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in the colour Stormy Pink. This colour was featured in the fall 2010 collection, Suede Rhapsody, however it is now been added to Revlon's permanent range.

What Revlon says; "Revlon® Matte Lipstick gives suede-like application and maximum colour. Rich matte colour glides effortlessly across lips. Suede-like cushion without drying."

The colour of Stormy Pink in the bullet looks like a very vibrant candy pink, almost fuchsia with blue under tones. However when swatched the colour becomes more muted and doesn't look as bold. On my lips it looks it looks like a very toned down version of MAC's Pink Nouveau (comparison picture below) I do really like this shade and is a colour I didn't have in my collection.

The texture of this 'matte' lipstick is very moisturising, especially compared to Revlon's Pink Pout in the same range -review here. I would still exfoliate and apply a lip balm before hand, but it was a nice surprise to find it didn't dry my lips. When you do apply it to the lips the colour is slightly sheerer than I would like, but it can be easily built up with out it caking. The colour is still bold even though it is sheer, but not in a 'in your face' sort of way like MAC's Impassioned.

The finish of this lipstick is nice, I wouldn't say it was matte but more like a MAC luster or satin finish as it gives a little bit of colour but also has a small amount of shine in it. Like I mentioned before this is very different to the other matte colour I have in this range. The lasting power of this lipstick is on the shorter side of what I would like, lasting around 3 hours. With eating or drinking, it would wear quicker. The lipstick has a very faint smell that I can't put my finger on. The smell is nice, and once on the lips completely disappears.

My other pink lipsticks swatched against Stormy Pink;

T-B
1. Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Stormy Pink
2. MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau
3. MAC Lipstick in Saint Germain
4. Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout
5. NYX Round Lipstick in Strawberry Pink
6. NYX Round Lipstick in Narcissus

Like I said I believe Stormy Pink is a muted version of MAC's Pink Nouveau, below it is swatched between  Pink Nouveau and Saint Germain.

I think Stormy Pink fits well between these colours, although its not as pigmented I think looks like a mixture of both MAC lipsticks.

Overall, I really like Stormy Pink and am looking to trying other colours in the Revlon Super Lustrous range.

You can find this lipstick at Boots for £7.49  or on eBay, I got mind from this seller for only £3.50

Have you tried this lipstick? Or another good one from Revlon?

MAC Dupe; Revlon Matte Lipstick in 002 Pink Pout

Hello everyone,

I feel being pale is hard - especially when trying to find a foundation or a 'nude' lipstick! So when I fell in love with MAC's Snob lipstick I decided to look for a similar 'drugstore' version, as I know we all can't afford MAC.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 002 Pink Pout

Well I got one, and a bloody good one at that! I was browsing the web for reviews on other dupes when I came across a blog -I can't remember who's- and it said  Revlon's Pink Pout was a dupe for Snob, so off I ran to Boots and picked it straight up!

The packaging, although different, looks sleek and professional

What Revlon says; "Revlon® Matte Lipstick gives suede-like application and maximum colour. Rich matte colour glides effortlessly across lips. Suede-like cushion without drying."

Snob is the top
Pink Pout is the bottom

Side by side the colours look identical.

Pink Pout is a very "me" shade, a pale light pink with mauve undertones -just like Snob! Its a matte lipstick which I love as I'm not too crazy over glossy lipsticks. The lasting time is pretty good too, I feel you have reapply around 2/3 times but that's normal and happens with Snob anyway. The price of this lipstick was £7.49 in Boots, which is still pricey for a 'drugstore' lippy, but still well cheaper than Snob at £13.50. Plus it's 3 for 2 on Revlon in Boots so I highly recommend you add this product into your chosen 3!

The Revlon lippy looks huge in comparison

I feel this colour is perfect for pale skin as it's a neutral mauve shade rather than a beige/neutral so it adds a bit of colour to your face, its a 'my lips but better' colour for me!

Pink Pout is at the top, Snob is the bottom
On this swatch Pink Pout looks slightly yellowish, however on the lips you cannot tell!

I can not find fault with this lipstick at all, I think it's so wonderful and such a good dupe! The colour goes with everything and is my everyday lipstick. I highly recommend buying this if you are pale and are looking for a pretty pale mauvey lippy. I highly recommend trying out the Revlon matte lipsticks!

Do you think Revlon lipsticks are a dupe for MAC ones? Do you have any dupes?
